Welcome to Senior Infants 2019/2020
Senior Infants started off the year in great style. See their photos..... they look amazing...
September to December has been a very busy time in Morning Star. We had a visit from the Lord Mayor. We celebrated Space Week by making our own Aeroplanes. We had a visit from the insect man who took us on a mini beast adventure. Science week was fantastic we made popcorn and learned all about heat changing things, we also enjoy eating it!!!!!! Ms. MacCarthy helped us to make rice krispie cakes, and we made a volcano erupt!!!!..... See if you can spot our great PJ's in our pictures.....
See us with our friendship tree, we are all friends in Morning Star. Every morning we have structured play in our groups we love this as we get to use our imagination to make lots of great things!!!!! Recently we had a visit from the bat man. He was excellent and told us lots a bout bats. We will be making a bat house in the new year with his help.
Christmas at Morning Star is always an exciting time. We invited our parents, grand parents, aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters to see us perform our Christmas Songs. They all said we were fantastic THANK YOU!! Santa came to visit and answered lots of our questions!!! and gave use a present. At our final assembly of 2109 Mr Deasy presented some boys with awards for Homework- Jacob, Gaeilge- Jack, Attendance & Punctuality- Evan, Best Effort- Lucas and Behaviour - Kyle O C. Well done those boys who got their awards.
Happy New Year to all our Parents wishing you a happy and healthy 2020 from the boys at Senior Infants Morning Star NS
We started off the New Year with lots of hard work after the Christmas break. We love our structured play every morning, as we get to have great fun with our friends. Ms. Murphy organised S.O.W (Scoot On Wednesday) The school met at Ballyphehane Church, and all the parents/teachers/mums/dads/brothers/sisters/aunties/uncles/
grannies and grandads scooted, cycled or walked as part of our Green Flag . We had super fun and got tickets towards getting our homework off!!!!!!
These are pictures of us holding up bird feeders. Ms. MacCarthy brought them in for us because we were discussing how difficult it can be for the birds to find food. We hung them from the railings in the school yard and watched how much food the birds ate each day. For Valentines Day we made cards for the ones we love. Jack decided to make his own fantastic card....it was super. See us doing our PE with Yellow Class...we had great fun with the hoola hoops and the parachute game.
World Book Day. In March we celebrated Work Book Day. We all got to dress up in our favourite book characters and we brought in our books to show our friends. We had a lot of 'Where's Wally' characters in our class that day!!! We played a game with Ms. Kelliher what class could find the most 'Wally's' hidden around the school in the fastest time!!!!! Senior Infants did very well!!!!
A big thank you to the parents who sent in photos of your boys working hard on their school work at home. AJ doing some geography with his mum on erosion, and also him completing his Spellbound. Super work Aj. Then we have Jack completing some maths on his window pane at home. Super work Jack. Keep it up.

I hope you all enjoyed The Snail and the Whale you produced some lovely answers to the questions and pictures. Your special person work was super and it was lovely to see so many of you mention your mum's and nannies. Keep at your writing and reading. Oxford Owl is a great site for you to visit and choose your own book. Tricky words are important too guys. Also keep up the good work on your Maths. I have to mention the amazing creations you produced from recycled materials. We had Robots, Boats, Masks, Bird houses. Both Ms. Daly and I loved them!!!!

Also 2nd Class would have made their Holy Communion on 16th May Ms McGrath has a lovely video on her class website dedicated to them, go have a look!!!
Hi Everyone
Hope you are all well and that you enjoyed the work that you did this week.
I really enjoyed looking at all your Weather Charts for geography. By making a chart like this we can look back on the different days and the kind of weather we experienced.
I also thought you all did a wonderful job with your obstacle courses. It’s so important to keep fit and healthy and by making an obstacle course we can make our exercise a bit more enjoyable . And the great thing is that you can make a different one every day ! You all did so much great work this week. Well Done.
Ms McCarthy will be setting your work for the coming week so I look forward to catching up with you all again next week.
Stay safe

Hi boys, mums, dads, grannies, grandas, sisters, brothers. We have had a fantastic week of really great homework from the boys in Senior Infants. Our theme for this week was The Jungle. The boys did a great job in telling us what animal they would like to be, some were scary!! they listened to Elliot the Elephant rhyme and Rumble in the Jungle. Jack, thank you for sending the video of you dancing to the Bear Necessities its great some fab moves. Boys had lovely drawings about how this song made you feel. Some of you were very inventive when you built your own jungles!!!!! I know the tricky words are getting really hard now but keep working on them. In Maths we started TIME this week, well done to the parents for being so patient and helping to make the clocks. Some boys have done extra homework Bua na Cainte and extra work on maths. Great photo Jamie of your shop. A big thank to AJ for his lovely picture and present of a little yellow star for my car keys.

Summer Holidays are here at last!!!!!!
Dear parents, boys and all those of you who have been involved in helping to keep your sons education going these past few months, THANK YOU ...Ms. Daly and I could not have done it without you..... Ms. Daly will not be back to our school in September but I am sure she will pop in to see us when she can. A big thank you to her for all her work during the year. She has written a little something for you:
Well, parents and boys. We’ve finally reached the end of senior infants. It has been a funny last term and as both Ms McCarthy and I said at the start of all of the upheaval our main aim was to get through this as safely as possible. Our hope for you all was that this happened and now that we are officially on summer holidays we can enjoy a nice sunny break for the summer. It has been an absolute pleasure teaching each and every one of you boys. You are a kind, funny and brilliant class of boys and I know that Ms McCarthy and I will both miss you all so much. We had lots of fun during the year. It’s a pity we didn’t get to finish out the year properly but I know that you are all ready for 1st Class and will be amazing going forward. Morning Star is a fantastic school and always remember that you are a Morning Star boy and that is something to be so proud of. So Thank You so much Boys , Mums and Dads. From Two very proud teachers.
The photos of your Random Acts of Kindness are fantastic. Happy 7th birthday to Jamie Noonan this week too.
I will see you all in September for a great year ahead. Have a lovely and safe summer everyone.
