WELCOME TO OUR CLASS!!

A warm welcome to our new Junior Infants!! We are so delighted to have you all. Our Senior Infant boys have been great at helping our new friends settle into school life. Take a look at our class photo from the first day of school!

We have had so much fun playing in our class and making new friends. Check out the slideshow below!

We love Art in Junior and Senior Infants!

We LOVE going to CSN every week for P.E! We love to exercise, it keeps us fit and
healthy :)

Our class and the rainbow class go to CSN once a week. We have so much fun and have so many teachers! We have played games like stuck in the mud and tag rugby. We have practiced our ball handling skills and we have scored so many goals!

Morning Star's Mental Health Week in aid of Pieta House

In October, we took part in Mental Health Week in Morning Star! We are eager to earn the Amber Flag for our school.

During Mental Health week, we practiced mindfulness and meditation techniques, we did a whole school dance (check out the highlight 'Amber Flag Initiative' above), we did yoga with Sinéad. We even got to make smoothies with Ms McAleer. YUM!
CHEERS!

Our reading buddies in sixth class come down every Friday to read us a story! What a great way to meet some of the older boys.

We have been working so hard since September! Miss McAleer is so proud of us :)

We have been working on all things fine-motor, especially our cutting skills! We even write laying on the floor sometimes as it really gets the muscles in our hands working!! We have been learning our sounds with Jolly Phonics, our sight words. We have even started to blend sounds to make words!!

Our autumn nature walk

We learned all about autumn. We learned that the leaves change colour and begin to fall off the trees as well as what chesnuts are! We even learned about hibernation!! What better way to learn about nature than to get stuck right into it!! We made sure we were safe and seen with our Hi-Vis jackets on.

Happy Halloween from Junior/Senior Infants!! We had a spook-tacular time dressing up in school. We had a halloween party and we even got a visit from an alien!!!

We love Aistear in Junior and Senior Infants. Play-based child-led learning has so many benefits for young children. We have had different role-play areas such as 'The Restaurant' and 'The Post Office'.

Science
Week 2021

We learned so much during Science Week. We did a different experiment every day. It was so fun!!
Coke and Mentos Experiment
We made predictions on what we thought might happen when we put the mentos into the coke. Look at that explosion!!!!
STEM Challenge
Using dry spaghetti and mini marshmallows, the boys had just 10 minutes to make the tallest structure they could... but... it had to be able to stand all by itself!! The boys made some fabulous constructions! :)
Crazy cress heads!
The boys had so much fun learning about how seeds grow. What better way to learn than planting our own!! We used mini compostable pots, cotton wool and water. The boys decorated the outside with googley eyes. We checked and watered the seeds every day. We were so excited to see the crazy cress heads when the seeds grew.
Gummy Bear Experiment
We put regular gummy bears into water overnight. The next day, the gummy bears grew 3x the size of the original gummy bear as it absorbed the water. We couldn't believe it !!

Library visit

We loved visiting our local library. It was great fun picking out our favourite books.

Christmas Time in Junior and Senior Infants

We couldn't believe our eyes when we arrived in to school on the 1st of December. Our whole class was decorated and we even had an elf!!! We read his letter and we decided to name him OREO. He was such a chancer. We did loads of Christmas art, learned all about winter and we even had our very own Christmas play - Whoops a Daisy Angel. Ms McAleer was so proud of how well we worked together to make our show come together :).

Santa's visit to Morning Star!

Class Awards - Kindness was a new reward this year and what a reward it was! We LOVE being kind in Morning Star and it is something we practice in our class every single day.

End of Term 1 treat - Christmas Rice Crispie buns :)

So proud of each and every boy in Junior and Senior Infants for all you have achieved in Term 1. Reach for the stars boys
